Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree

The rotting city at the base of the Haligtree, ending at Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

  • Malenia, Blade of Miquella: Rests at the Haligtree Roots, the deepest point of Elphael. She heals whenever her attacks connect, even on your shield, so dodge rather than block; run from Waterfowl Dance at its first flurry, then roll through the rest.

  • Marika's Soreseal: From the Prayer Room grace in Elphael, pick your way down around the pillars to an Imp Seal Gate at the bottom; it rests on the altar inside.
  • Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman: From the Drainage Channel grace in Elphael, cross the branches to the big building's roof and drop inside onto the raised chest platform.
  • Rotten Winged Sword Insignia: At the end of Millicent's quest, use her gold sign near the Drainage Channel grace and help her beat her sisters. Invading her instead gives Millicent's Prosthesis.
  • Millicent's Prosthesis: At the end of Millicent's quest, take the red sign near the Drainage Channel grace and defeat her. Helping her instead gives the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia.
  • Golden Seed: Kill the lone Ulcerated Tree Spirit lurking in Elphael's second rot lake, by the islet where Millicent's quest ends near the Drainage Channel grace.
  • Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone: From the Prayer Room grace, get down onto the ring walkway patrolled by a Putrid Avatar and follow it to a corpse at its southern end.
  • Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone: At the end of the first walkway past the Prayer Room grace, land on the gazebo where a red scarab sits, run up the slanted beam opposite and open the chest in the small room.
  • Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone: Finish Millicent's quest first, then beat Malenia and apply the Unalloyed Gold Needle to the scarlet flower in her arena; it rewards this stone along with Miquella's Needle.
  • Rotten Crystal Sword: From the Elphael Inner Wall grace, jump onto the branch where three lesser Crystalians guard a chest holding the sword.
  • Miquellan Knight's Sword: On the main path from the Prayer Room grace, hop onto the first pillar on the right, climb the ladder at its back and take the sword under the bell.
  • Cleanrot Knight's Sword: Lesser Cleanrot Knights carrying it drop it about 4% of the time; a few patrol just before the Prayer Room grace in Elphael.
  • Rotten Staff: Drop from the Putrid Avatar on the right-hand walkway near the Prayer Room grace in Elphael.
  • Rotten Crystal Spear: Lesser Crystalians carrying it drop it about 8% of the time; one stands just above the branch next to the Elphael Inner Wall grace.
  • Rotten Crystal Staff: One of the three lesser Crystalians beyond the branch near the Elphael Inner Wall grace carries it and drops it now and then.
  • Haligtree Crest Greatshield: Only one Haligtree Knight carries it (about 4% drop): go out along the branch from the Drainage Channel grace toward the church and find him in the corner outside it.

Walkthrough: Elphael: Millicent's Choice and Malenia

  • Take the lift down from the promenade and continue to the Prayer Room grace.
  • Talk to Millicent, who is resting inside the Prayer Room.
  • From the Prayer Room, climb along the arches above the crossbowmen; the room on the left holds a chest with Cleanrot Knight Finlay.
  • Follow the arch up to a balcony; at its end, a seated corpse above the ballistae carries a Seedbed Curse.
  • Further down, before the room of Cleanrot Knights, hop the right-hand railing; the dark room underneath hides another Seedbed Curse.
  • Press on past the Erdtree Avatar to the Elphael Inner Wall grace.
  • Run through the rot swamp to the far side and down the ladder to the Drainage Channel grace.
  • Climb back up the ladder, kill the pest on your left and jump along the root to the island in the swamp.
  • Defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit lurking in the middle of the swamp.
  • Reload; on the cliff above the swamp, touch the gold sign to aid Millicent rather than the red sign that hunts her.
  • Help Millicent defeat her attackers, then talk to her by the rot pool for the Rotten Winged Sword Insignia.
  • Reload and take the Unalloyed Gold Needle from Millicent's body.
  • From the Drainage Channel, cross the walkways to the lift inside the building and ride it down to the Haligtree Roots grace.
  • Pass through the fog at the roots and defeat Malenia, Blade of Miquella.
  • Touch the Malenia, Goddess of Rot grace that appears in the arena.
  • Reload, then apply the Unalloyed Gold Needle to the scarlet flower in the arena, which gives Miquella's Needle plus a Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone.
