Lake of Rot

A crimson lake of Scarlet Rot below Ainsel River. Cross it to the Grand Cloister, Astel and Ranni's final steps.

Bosses

  • Dragonkin Soldier: Stands in the middle of the Lake of Rot. Step on the pressure plate to raise stone platforms out of the rot, then lure it there and fight on dry ground.
  • Astel, Naturalborn of the Void: Accessed through the coffin in the Grand Cloister, which sits at the far end of the Lake of Rot, as part of Ranni's route. It teleports a lot; follow its body and step out of range of the grab that saps your life.

  • Mushroom Crown: Hangs on a corpse on a broken pillar in the far south-east corner of the Lake of Rot; scale the pillar's outer edge to reach it.
  • Remembrance of the Naturalborn: Dropped by Astel, Naturalborn of the Void beyond the Grand Cloister. Trade it to Finger Reader Enia in Roundtable Hold for Bastard's Stars or Ash of War: Waves of Darkness.
  • Map: Lake of Rot: A body lying on the shore close to the Lake of Rot Shoreside grace holds it.
  • Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [22]: Lake of Rot: at the lake's west end, near the approach to the Grand Cloister, a small ruin hides a chest with it.
  • Immunizing Horn Charm +1: Dropped by a lone Ancestral Follower wading through the rot southeast of the Lake of Rot Shoreside grace.
  • Golden Seed: Below the Grand Cloister grace, follow the rot river back toward the waterfall; a tree spirit erupts there and drops the seed.
  • Scorpion's Stinger: Open the chest at the west end of the Grand Cloister, past the Lake of Rot.
  • Dragonscale Blade: Drop from the Dragonkin Soldier at the Lake of Rot.

Walkthrough: Lake of Rot: Crossing to the Grand Cloister

  • Keep following the river past Nokstella to the Lake of Rot Shoreside grace.
  • Cross the lake, hopping between the stone platforms where you can and healing off the rot, to the Grand Cloister grace.

Walkthrough: Lake of Rot: Astel, Naturalborn of the Void

  • From the Grand Cloister grace, head down to the cliff edge on the south side and lie in the coffin there.
  • Once the coffin lands, defeat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void in the starry arena.
  • A grace named after Astel, Naturalborn of the Void appears once it dies; rest there.
