Mountaintops of the Giants

Frozen highlands of dead giants. Climb to Flame Peak and the Fire Giant, the forge where the Erdtree must be burned.

Bosses

  • Ancient Hero of Zamor: Waits at the end of Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave and drops its full Zamor gear. Back off from the frost spin and punish the landing of its leap.
  • Ulcerated Tree Spirit: Boss of the Giants' Mountaintop Catacombs. Stay by its tail away from the biting head; it also leaves a Golden Seed.
  • Erdtree Avatar: Head south over the bridge from the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook grace to find it beside a withered Minor Erdtree. A second Avatar joins midway, so have Fire damage ready.
  • Death Rite Bird: Guards the snowy road toward Castle Sol, west of the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook grace; unlike most of its kind it is there by day as well. Holy damage and staying mounted keep the fight short.
  • Tibia Mariner: Drifts across the snow near the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook grace. Chase the boat and ignore its skeletons; it also leaves a Deathroot.
  • Commander Niall: Defends the top of Castle Sol from the Church of the Eclipse side and calls two spirit knights. Kill the knights first, then dodge his frost stomps and lightning leg strikes.
  • Roundtable Knight Vyke: Sealed in the Lord Contender's Evergaol uphill west of the First Church of Marika. His spear builds Madness, so bring Clarifying Boluses and stay aggressive.
  • Borealis the Freezing Fog: Rises from the middle of the Freezing Lake. It hides in its own fog, so fight on Torrent and hit its legs; it leaves a Dragon Heart.
  • Godskin Apostle & Godskin Noble: A Spirit-Caller Snail in Spiritcaller's Cave summons both Godskins one after the other. Find and kill the snail to end each phase quickly.
  • Fire Giant: Guards the Forge of the Giants above the Foot of the Forge grace on Flame Peak. In phase one aim for the shackled leg; in phase two ride Torrent and stay behind it.

  • Somberstone Miner's Bell Bearing [3]: Loot the body at the First Church of Marika in the east of the Mountaintops.
  • Glovewort Picker's Bell Bearing [2]: Beat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the Giants' Mountaintop Catacombs, north of the Zamor Ruins.
  • Hermit Merchant's Bell Bearing [2]: The Hermit Merchant in the ravine above the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins grace, south of the Stargazers' Ruins. Merchants never die on their own, so you must kill him to get it.
  • Sorcerer Painting: Castle Sol: get onto the ballista ramparts, cross into the main keep over a wooden walkway and climb down to a locked room. Solve it on a pillar ledge of the westernmost bridge below the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook, north-west of the Stargazers' Ruins.
  • Deathroot: In the chest behind the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in the Giants' Mountaintop Catacombs.

  • Hoslow's Oath: Invade Juno Hoslow through his Volcano Manor contract in the Mountaintops of the Giants and let him finish the gesture before you strike.
  • Cerulean Amber Medallion +1: Castle Sol: climb the ladder outside the Church of the Eclipse, follow the walkway round a tower and go down to a body on a wooden ledge above the south wall.
  • Primal Glintstone Blade: Summon the Jellyfish spirit by the sealed basement of the Stargazers' Ruins to open it, then loot the chest below.
  • Godskin Swaddling Cloth: Reward for beating the Godskin Apostle and Godskin Noble summoned by the Spirit-Caller Snail in the Spiritcaller Cave.
  • Golden Seed: Awarded by the Ulcerated Tree Spirit boss at the far end of Giants' Mountaintop Catacombs, on Flame Peak.

  • Watchdog's Greatsword: Lesser Erdtree Burial Watchdogs in the Mountaintops of the Giants drop it about 8% of the time; one sits just outside a window of the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave.
  • Eclipse Shotel: Rests on the altar inside the Church of the Eclipse at Castle Sol.
  • Monk's Flameblade: Fire Monks with this blade drop it about 4% of the time; several patrol the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave.
  • Zamor Curved Sword: The Ancient Hero of Zamor drops it at the far end of Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave.
  • Rivers of Blood: Dropped by Bloody Finger Okina, who invades outside the Church of Repose.
  • Monk's Flamemace: Fire Monks carrying it drop it about 4% of the time; the first one inside the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave has it, as do some monks in eastern Liurnia.
  • Cranial Vessel Candlestand: In the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave, climb the stairs past the burial watchdog and go left at the frost statue to an imp seal door (Stonesword Key); it is behind you in the next room.
  • Death Ritual Spear: Drop from the Death Rite Bird that appears at night near the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook grace.
  • Thorned Whip: Fire Prelates with this whip drop it about 4% of the time; one stands before the great bridge from Zamor Ruins to the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins.
  • Hoslow's Petal Whip: Defeat Juno Hoslow, the third target of Tanith's Volcano Manor contracts. Diallos also leaves one at Jarburg if he dies there at the end of his quest.
  • Veteran's Prosthesis: Reward for beating Commander Niall at Castle Sol.
  • Staff of the Guilty: Thorn Sorcerers give it roughly 2% of the time; plenty gather at the barricades before the Guardians' Garrison and a few stand in Fort Laiedd.
  • Giant's Seal: In the Giant-Conquering Hero's Grave, open the imp statue door (Stonesword Key), ride the lift down twice, climb the ladder and check the right wall of the Prelate's room.
  • One-Eyed Shield: Dropped by Chief Guardian Arghanthy, who invades on Whiteridge Road near the Guardians' Garrison.

Walkthrough: Mountaintops of the Giants: Zamor Ruins and the Stargazers

  • Ride the Grand Lift of Rold up and read the stele just ahead for Map: Mountaintops of the Giants, West.
  • Touch the Zamor Ruins grace among the ruins a short ride away.
  • Rest in the ruins and talk to Melina about the frozen heights.
  • Talk to Shabriri, who wears Yura's body, until he has nothing more to say; do not attack him.
  • Rest at the Zamor Ruins grace again for Melina's warning about what Shabriri told you.
  • Ride north-east; where the fire-wreathed monks gather, go through the door to the Giants' Mountaintop Catacombs grace.
  • Work down through the catacombs and two lifts, then drop through the hole near the Giant Warrior Pot at the end of the path.
  • Ride the lift again and step off at once; a hidden ledge beneath it leads to the lever that opens the boss gate.
  • Defeat the Ulcerated Tree Spirit and open the chest behind it for the seventh Deathroot.
  • Back outside, ride north-east until you unlock the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins grace.
  • Talk to Millicent close to the grace until she starts repeating herself.
  • Follow the frozen river north and then west toward the Shack of the Lofty, where the Red Letter's sign waits.
  • Invade Juno Hoslow, Knight of Blood, and hold your attacks until he finishes his gesture to learn Hoslow's Oath.
  • Defeat Juno for Hoslow's Set and Hoslow's Petal Whip.
  • Ride the spiritspring south of the shack up to the Stargazer's Ruins.
  • Inside, summon your Spirit Jellyfish and talk to the jellyfish spirit to solve its puzzle for Fancy Spin and the Primal Glintstone Blade.
  • Speak with Brother Corhyn on the bridge lying south-east of the ruins; hold on to the Tonic of Forgetfulness instead of handing it to him.
  • Speak to Goldmask, who stands with Corhyn on the bridge.

Walkthrough: Mountaintops of the Giants: Castle Sol and the Fire Giant

  • Starting at the Ancient Snow Valley Ruins, go north-east to the frozen river and follow it until the Freezing Lake grace.
  • Climb the slope north, then turn south-west uphill to the Snow Valley Ruins Overlook grace.
  • A Tibia Mariner drifts among the gravestones north-west of the Overlook; kill it for the eighth Deathroot.
  • Keep west and descend the slope north-east to the Castle Sol Main Gate grace.
  • Battle up through Castle Sol's courtyards; the stairs lead to its church and the Church of the Eclipse grace.
  • Go deeper into the church and out its back door to open the shortcut to the boss gate.
  • Defeat Commander Niall and his spectral knights for the Veteran's Prosthesis.
  • Touch the Castle Sol Rooftop grace after the fight.
  • Ride the lift in the arena up to claim the Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left).
  • Warp back to the Freezing Lake and cross it; south of the lake, ride through the enemy camp to the stele holding Map: Mountaintops of the Giants, East.
  • Make for the lake's south-east corner and touch the First Church of Marika grace.
  • Rest at the church and listen to Melina while she is still at your side.
  • Ride west from the church until you reach the Whiteridge Road grace.
  • Go south over the bridge to the Giants' Gravepost grace.
  • At the Church of Repose to the south-south-west, defeat the invader Bloody Finger Okina for Rivers of Blood and the Okina Mask.
  • Turn east from the church and carry on until you unlock the Foot of the Forge grace.
  • Summon Iron Fist Alexander at the boss gate north-east of the grace and defeat the Fire Giant together.
  • Touch the Fire Giant grace, but do not continue up to the Forge of the Giants yet.

Walkthrough: Consecrated Snowfield: The Hidden Path to the Haligtree

  • Stop by the Zamor Ruins grace: Shabriri has moved on and Yura's Ronin's Set lies where he stood.
  • At the Grand Lift of Rold, choose the Haligtree Secret Medallion instead of the usual one and ride up to the Hidden Path to the Haligtree grace.
  • Walk back to the railed platform and step off where the railing is broken to land on the invisible path below.
  • Trace the invisible walkway west toward the doorway, using messages, bloodstains or rainbow stones to see where it runs.
  • Prior to going in, jump down to the corpse on the lower platform to the left, hop through a window and throw the lever on the northern side, where the giant octopus sits in front.
  • Follow the passage south to the arena and defeat the Stray Mimic Tear.
  • Open the chest beyond the arena for the ninth and final Deathroot.

Walkthrough: Crumbling Farum Azula: Burning the Erdtree

  • Before going further, finish everything above: burning the Erdtree changes the Roundtable Hold and ends several questlines.
  • From the Fire Giant grace, climb to the Forge of the Giants, touch its grace and rest there to set the Erdtree ablaze.
  • Wake in Crumbling Farum Azula and touch the Crumbling Beast Grave grace.
  • Get past the dragon guarding the way ahead and rest at the Crumbling Beast Grave Depths grace.
  • Cut north-east through the building to the Tempest-Facing Balcony grace.
  • Follow the path onward to the Dragon Temple grace.
  • Turn round, jump off the cliff to the platform below and drop again, then run past the enemies along the left wall to the Dragon Temple Transept grace.
  • Summon Bernahl near the arena and defeat the Godskin Duo.
  • Touch the Dragon Temple Altar grace inside the arena.
  • Leave the altar by the north-east door; an Imp Statue there seals a lift that carries you up to the Dragon Temple Lift grace.
  • Beyond the dragon past this grace, find Iron Fist Alexander waiting for a duel; kill the dragon and reload if he hasn't appeared.
  • Defeat Alexander in his duel for the Shard of Alexander and Alexander's Innards.
  • Ride the lift back down, follow the lower path and slip past the Crucible Knight to the Dragon Temple Rooftop grace.
  • Sprint past the winged beasts and another dragon to a lift; at its top waits the Beside the Great Bridge grace.
  • Climb the stairs but turn left, away from the boss bridge, and take the ladder down toward the far tower.
  • Defeat the invading Recusant Bernahl for the Beast Champion Set, Devourer's Scepter and Blasphemous Claw.
